This large eCommerce catalog build was one of the most exciting, unique, and rewarding projects for us! When we first engaged, Lakeside Manufacturing had 6 sites with a tremendous amount of information available for customers, the sales force, and their reps – but because of outdated design and poor user experience (UX), no one was using it. Lakeside needed a new look and feel, a way to engage both internal and external clients, and a digital presence aligned with current product while simultaneously supportive of future goals.
The existing sites were built on AspDotNetStorefront, an ASP.NET framework. The implementation and usage was confusing for the internal team to manage, making even the simplest of changes or additions to the product line difficult, time-consuming, and error prone. Cross-branding across their sites was also not possible, resulting in the same product having multiple instances, different SKU’s, and painful to track or adjusting marketing plans.
43Folders worked closely with interim CMOs from Chief Outsiders during an extensive discovery process, and our joint recommendation resulted in not just a new website, but a true paradigm shift within Lakeside’s product group. One of the most significant changes about product thinking lead us to a multi-site WordPress/Woocommerce solution, leveraging a single database as the source of “truth.” Combining a WordPress multisite with Woocommerce as the ecommerce backend was definitely not your typical implementation, but one we knew made the most sense – and matched both the marketing goals and budgetary requirements of the client.
