Edward M. Kennedy Institute – Today’s Vote in the Classroom

Created for the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Boston, MA, this website was originally designed as a supplement to the learning and educational opportunities offered on-site. When COVID’s presence began to be felt, however, the scope increased to be a fully immersive online experience allowing students to take on the role of U.S. Senators, debate issues, and cast their votes on real bills that have been introduced to Congress. They experience the full voting and legislative process, and their teachers can facilitate and track progress and results.

We used a combination of 3rd party and bespoke plugins and code to provide:

  • Registration and login capabilities
  • New course creation for teachers
  • Course management for students and teachers
  • Vote tracking and reporting
  • Progress and grade reporting for teachers
